six investigates has obtained copies of letters from the commander of NES Corpus Christi to the superintendent of CC ISD the letters deal with the Navy’s concern about the new Carroll High School campus being located in a potential crash zone investigative reporter Jessica Savitch takes a look at what the letter details outline the Navy’s concerned about noise and safety we requested those letters on October 26 CC ice-t released them Friday afternoon three days after voters approved a 210 million dollar bond proposal the bulk of that bond will pay for the new Carroll High School campus on Saratoga Boulevard near Weber in a letter dated March 26 the commander of na s Corpus Christi wrote that the nearby cabinets field is quote a critical asset to Naval Aviation and our ability to produce pilots in support of national security missions the letter also said that airfield has more than 50,000 flight events per year I’m standing on the edge of the school property which is about a half a mile away from cabinets field and this is in the direct flight path of where Navy pilots are training just across the street the Navy says this is an area where if an accident were to occur it most likely would happen here the superintendent responded to the Navy in an April 12th letter and said the district understood its concerns and agreed to move the high school building out of the crash zone dr. Roland Hernandez also wrote the district would continue to seek input from the Navy as it got closer to buying the property about a week ago the district closed on the 60 acre tract of land where it plans to build the campus these letters written in March and April are the only time the school in the Navy had written communication about the issue dr.
