WELCOME TO ALL HANDS UPDATE, I’M PETTY OFFICER
JESSICA BIDWELL. THESE ARE YOUR HEADLINES FROM AROUND THE FLEET. U.S. AND JAPAN SELF-DEFENSE FORCES WRAPPED
UP EXERCISE KEEN SWORD OFF THE COAST OF SOUTHERN JAPAN NOVEMBER 19TH. NINETEEN SHIPS AND SEVEN AIRCRAFT PARTICIPATED IN
LARGE JOINT FIELD TRAINING EXERCISES TO INCREASE COMBAT READINESS AND TEAMWORK BETWEEN THE
TWO COUNTRIES. APPROXIMATELY 11,000 U.S. PERSONNEL
PARTICIPATED IN KEEN SWORD. THE NAVY SENIOR ENLISTED ACADEMY OR SEA IS
EXPANDING ITS DELIVERY FORMAT TO ALLOW EVERY SENIOR CHIEF PETTY OFFICER TO ATTEND. AFTER 2017 ALL SENIOR CHIEF PETTY OFFICERS
WILL BE REQUIRED TO ATTEND SEA OR OTHER SENIOR LEADERSHIP ACADEMIES PRIOR TO PUTTING ON MASTER
CHIEF PETTY OFFICER. THIS UPDATE ALIGNS WITH CNO’S VISION OF THE
NAVY LEADER DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY AND MCPON’S FOCUS ON DEVELOPING LEADERS.
