Fleet & Family Support Center Holds Job Fair

Fleet & Family Support Center Yokosuka held it’s first ever job fair to support the local community for employment, college and volunteer
opportunities. It started as a conversation about how we
don’t have a centralized location to find out what jobs are available to spouses, to
dependents and family members. So really the job fair is to put all of those places in
one place. The fair allowed Yokosuka residents to speak
directly with employers and educators regarding opportunities they may not have known about,
giving them the knowledge needed to advance their careers and education. This is actually our first time putting on
a job fair. We’re hoping that we can make it an annual event and even a bi-annual event.
Most of the feedback we’ve gotten is people who are really excited to be able to come
here and ask questions to the HRO guys; the guys who hire them, what they’re looking
for, where do we apply, to be able to have that conversation face to face and get the
exact information that you’re looking for. For those who missed the job fair, the Fleet
and Family Support Center still provides information and assistance on an individual basis. Petty Officer Joshua Karsten, Yokosuka Naval
Base, Japan.
