Make a Bigger Difference – Study The Bachelor of Nursing (Advanced Studies)

I chose to study nursing because it’s a
really dynamic profession and you get the opportunity to make to a difference in people’s
lives. I chose to study Bachelor of Nursing due to its reputation, not just around Australia but also globally. Through this course, I really have the opportunity
to find out where it is to be a great nurse. A Bachelor of Nursing (Advanced Studies) is
a really exciting program. We have worked really hard with our clinical
partners to develop it and to ensure that our graduates are prepared for their future roles
as registered nurses. What I have loved about the Bachelor of Nursing
at Sydney Nursing School is that they have provided me with a range of clinical placements
in a community setting, rural setting, also in the acute setting. It’s been really great to be able to see
where I might like to progress my career in the future. One of the great things about Sydney Nursing
School is the tight knit community. I have formed some really great friendships
that I can see carrying on with me for life. In the first year of the program our students
undertake subjects related to some of the fundamental aspects of nursing so they learn about professionalism,
they learn about biology, pharmacology. They are introduced to research and we also
equip them with some of the fundamental clinical skills they will need to take into practice. In second year, our theory becomes very science-based which consolidates the long clinical placements that we start to go on. In the third year, we bring all our knowledge
and experience together and we determine with the support of the university where we might
like to progress our career into the future. In 10 years’ time, I hope to have worked
overseas so I can see how different healthcare systems work around the world. I would also like to take that back to the
country and one day work for the Royal Flying Doctor Service. One of the most challenging times that we can
face in our lives is when we are sick or when we are witnessing a loved one being sick and
being able to be a positive factor in this journey towards well-being and be somebody
that can encourage self-management and encourage healing, I find that truly remarkable.
