The event that’s just taken place here
in Orbost, was a farewell from the Orbost community, in order to make sure that the
Fijians and the Australian Defence Force are seen off well. The work that
was conducted for this past few weeks – road clearance, cross-cutting, cleaning up
a few communities along the corridor of our area operations and community engagement.
We’ve forged comradeship towards lots of friends, families, with the community here,
and we will miss the friendship, we’ll miss the the communal gathering, we’ll
miss everything. The interoperability between the
Republic of Fiji Military Forces and the Australian Defence Force is outstanding. Culturally there’s a lot of alignment. They operate very humbly with what they have. They have a can-do attitude as we as Australians do as well. We’ve enjoyed
every second, every moment ever since we set foot on this area of operations and
we’ve learned a lot. It has been a great pleasure for us because over the years
it has always been Australia being a big brother to us and we’ve waited for our
time at least to come and help. And this chance will be cherished in our service career.
