SECNAV SPOKE AT A HOUSE APPROPRIATIONS COMMITTEE
HEARING TUESDAY. HE TALKED ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE OF THE NAVY
AND OUR ABILITY TO PROVIDE FORWARD PRESENCE AND MARITIME SECURITY. SECNAV SAID, “AMERICA’S MARITIME FORCES ARE
READY AND PRESENT ON DAY ONE OF ANY CRISIS FOR ANY EVENTUALITY.” HE ALSO SAID THAT FOR 238 YEARS, SAILORS AND
MARINES HAVE REMAINED FORWARD DEPLOYED TO PROVIDE PRESENCE IN PEACETIME AND WARTIME. THE NAVY HAS MADE CHANGES TO THE DETAILING
PROCESS. NEW NAVADMIN COVERS HOW DETAILERS CAN NOW
WRITE ORDERS TO TRANSFER SAILORS UP TO SIX MONTHS BEFORE OR AFTER THEIR PROJECTED ROTATION
DATE. DETAILERS HAVE THE ABILITY TO RETURN SAILORS
