The McChrystal group is a global advisory services and leadership development firm. It was founded in 2011 but its roots actually date back to nearly a decade before then. The bold idea behind McChrystal group is How do you get as a senior leader, authority and decision-making rights to those people in your organizations that are closest to the fastest moving hardest problem. We help the organization and we rally the organization around execution with speed and agility. The bold idea that founded this company and that really brings all of us here to McChrystal group is that the behaviors we’re gonna need to excel in our organizations for the 21st century are fundamentally different. The “Team of teams” approach worked enabling military Special Forces missions to succeed but McChrystal and Fussell later recognized that what worked on the battlefield could also help all types of organizations excel. What we did was learn to set very hard lessons on the battlefield going back more than 15 years now and those lessons were around “how do big organizations effectively transition into the Information Age?” The DNA of our Crystal group really comes from the origin story of Team of teams which was definitely off the battlefield but what really defines who we are has everything to do with our culture and our culture really revolves around our philosophy of ship shipmate self and we live by that code the team of team strategy employs technologies and leadership development to overcome these obstacles by being more transparent and by using technologies to connect military communications became faster and flatter. It was structured for efficiency were structured for predictability it’s got lines that people can clearly understand and to some degree to become big it had to have worked. We look at an organization and we look at both process and behaviors within that organization that are enabling them or preventing them from achieving their strategy. What we do is work with firms to become less structured in terms of efficiency driven less limited in the way they respond to communicate much faster much better and have the kind of leaders and people in the organization for whom adaptability is a core attribute.
