Top 25 College Basketball ATS Updates 3/3 w/Loshak

Hi welcome to SBR videos, today is Tuesday
March 3rd, the latest college basketball rankings for this week have come out, and we’ll take
a quick look right now at notable updated trends and ATS results throughout the Top
25. Starting with the Top 5, Kentucky got another
cover, although it was very close, they beat Arkansas by 17 as a 15.5-point favorite. So
Kentucky is now 4-0-1 ATS over their last 5, but their spreads do appear to be pretty
dead-on, we’ll see how inflated they get in their remaining 2 regular season games.
And then Virginia, man, they responded very well to their injury issues they’ve had
recently, that definitely surprised me, they crushed Wake Forest in kind of a statement
game for them, they covered 2 out of their 3 games last week, and they are looking very
strong heading into the postseason, looking like they can really dominate when they want
to, and when they turn it up. And, Villanova and Arizona continued cashing last week, Villanova
beat Providence, another Big East team ranked in the Top 25, by almost 30 points, and Arizona
also got a strong win over a Pac 12 team in the Top 25, beating Utah outright on the road.
Villanova has now covered 10 in a row, amazingly, and Arizona is now 10-2 ATS over their last
12. Then moving to 6 through 10, Wisconsin, Gonzaga
and Kansas all took losses recently that hurt them in the rankings, and Wisconsin and Kansas
have both now lost 4 in a row ATS. They’re both still strong teams of course, but it
looks like their spreads are fully accounting for that at the moment, especially with Wisconsin,
they have only 1 straight-up loss over their last 12 games, but a record of 4-7-1 ATS over
those games. And Wichita St closed the regular season very strong, they went 6-0-1 ATS over
their last 7 games, and I think they figure to be a good bet on their spreads in the MVC
conference tournament at least until the final game where they should play Northern Iowa.
Then moving to 11 through 15, Utah has stumbled a bit in the Pac 12, they have 2 straight-up
losses over their last 3 games, and they’re 2-3 ATS over their last 5 after having gone
an amazing 16-5-1 ATS before that. Utah is still a strong team though, and I’m thinking
we might see them bounce back a bit in their upcoming road trip in Washington, and maybe
step things up and be a good bet in the early rounds of the Pac 12 tournament. And then
there’s just 1 regular season game left in the Big 12, but heading into it Baylor
has won 4 in a row ATS, although they’ll be a huge favorite against Texas Tech in their
last game, and Oklahoma has lost 5 in a row ATS, although they could be a good bet at
home against Kansas in their last regular season game.
Then looking at 16 through 20, Louisville finally got a big cover after 4 straight ATS
losses, but they could again be overvalued in their final 2 regular season games, which
will both be at home against Top 25 teams, Notre Dame and Virginia. And Arkansas just
missed getting a cover against Kentucky, and Arkansas has now lost 4 in a row ATS. They
do seem to be getting a lot of line respect though, and all 4 of those ATS losses were
very close, all by less than 4 points, and before that they had covered 5 in a row, all
by bigger margins, so they could possibly return to having some line value in their
last 2 regular season games. And then finishing up the Top 25, Murray St
is ranked this week, their regular season is over though, they have the OVC conference
tournament coming up this week. Murray St was accurately valued overall on the year,
they were 13-12-1 ATS in the regular season, but they did cover 3 out of their last 5 games,
and could have value in spots in the post-season. And that’s a look at some notable ATS trends
and results for teams in the Top 25 in college basketball, as of March 3rd.
