In the first week of training, the trainees
get their M16 training weapon. This is the weapon that we use the majority of
time in basic military training. We want to get them comfortable breaking down
this trainer weapon to make sure that they know all the parts of the M16. If it
jams, they have to know how to break it down, they have to know how to clean the
pieces off and put it back together, reassemble it to continue the fight and
protect their fellow wingman.
