University of Coimbra + Best places to visit in the historic center (W/ ENGLISH SUBTITLES)

Hello I hope everything is well with you! I am Mariana, I live in Coimbra and study
also here at the university. In 2014 I started to help my foreign colleagues to integrate into the class and also started to participate in similar volunteers. I did a lot of friends around the world and then I realized
it made sense to help the new colleagues who come to study in
Coimbra. That is why I created this project:
to continue to help and to make this work that I like to do. In this video I will show you some of the best points of the historical center. Let’s go! We started in the ‘Praça da República’, here, it’s the principal meeting places of students. There are several entertainment areas: cafes,
restaurants, the ‘Teatro Gil Vicente’ and ‘Academic Association of Coimbra’. At night the are various bars and clubs. Now, let’s get down to the historic center
of the city. We are in the ‘Praça 8 de Maio’. This terrace that you are viewing is the ‘Café
Santa Cruz ‘, one of the oldest and traditional here in the city. We reached at ‘Largo da Portagem’. It’s a nice and turistic place with a lot of shops and cafés. It’s near the ‘Ponte de Santa Clara’ where you can have a beautiful view of the city. Here, you can taste the famous ‘Pastéis de Tentúgal’ and prepare yourself because we will climb to the University of Coimbra! Let’s go up ‘Arco de Almedina’ by a
street known as the ‘Quebra Costas’ (Breaking Back) You are seeing the ‘Sé Velha’ but to
get to the University we must continue to go up! We just get to the iconic point
of the city, the University of Coimbra! Here is the ‘Faculdade de Direito’ and the building
that now you are viewing is the ‘Biblioteca Joanina’. If you are a student at the University you can visit
the library for free if you present the student card. No excuse not to visit one of the
most spectacular libraries in Europe! If we leave the University we have the famous
‘Escadas Monumentais’ … there are 125 stairs! Legend has it that the number of times a
student tripping on the stairs, it will be the number of subjects that it will fail! Calm down! There is an alternative to the stairs, which is coming down this street that will give ‘Arcos do Jardim’. The ‘Arcos do Jardim’ separating the old part
of the city’s new town. There, you have shopping centers etc. Now, if you follow this street you will have again
the ‘Praça da Repúbica’. In the next video … In the next video I will show you how the city
is organized and what is the best area for rent house, taking into the university
you are attending. Subscribe the channel to not miss anything! Do not forget to LIKE this video if
