Yokota High School Junior ROTC First Pinning

Yokota High School Junior ROTC First Pinning

First-year Junior ROTC recruits
received their first pins in a ceremony at Yokota High School. For Cadet Airman Michael McDougall joining JROTC was simply a
natural transition. I first thought about JROTC through my mother who works here but I’m also a cadet in Civil Air Patrol and several other cadets are Junior ROTC
members so I decide to come out. He set lofty career goals for himself he that
believes J-ROT-C can help him achieve. I hope to have greater experience in
leadership. I hope to attend the Air Force Academy
which JROTC would help with a lot, and hopefully I can get a career
in OSI or military intelligence. And even though the school year still
young JROTC has already mad a big impression. So JROTC, it’s a great
program that we have here. Everyone is really helpful and
professional All of us, especially the S-1’s have
come up together from starting just at the bottom and now we’re
achieving your first ranks.l We’ve all come together and helped each other to get to this point. One of the cadets who helped lead this new class, Cadet Captain Kristiane Sonnenberg, was
once standing in their shoes. I started Junior ROTC honestly because I needed
a technical credit to graduate from high school and then
within I’d say two weeks of joining the class I
decided hey I actually really really like and I decided at that point that I
wanted to do it this long term. And now that she’s come full circle, her
feelings this day were easily summed up. Well really, is just, I’m proud of them.
It’s so cool to see all these cadets who were so excited
about joining ROTC because I know what lies ahead of them. I know how exciting the next three or
four years of high school is going be for them, and I know that JROTC is going to give them a lot good opportunities. And so from their first pinning to their
graduation, these young men and women have a bright
future ahead of them. Petty Officer Phill Stuart, Yokota Air Base, Japan.
